"... I once saw a bag of free masks hanging on a fence post with a note that said anyone was welcome to take a mask if she needed one. I have heard of people filling their small library houses (like the one pictured) with canned food and toilet paper rolls free for anyone who might need something. Yes, we moved into a new neighborhood in the middle of the pandemic and it's been really hard to get to know our neighbors. When we see them outside we do chat with them for short periods of time, but would love to be able to host them in our home, which we're still not comfortable doing yet. Especially for our neighbors with children who can't get vaccinated yet, we don't want to put them in an awkward situation where they feel like they have to choose their child's safety over having dinner with us or something. My spouse and I would love to organize a block party, but we're thinking we're still not able to do that, at least not until kids can get vaccinated too.
