The things that feel different this time of year - as we prepare for the fall and another surge to hit us, is the expectation that there will be a contraction of life again. And more shutdown coming. So we are trying to use these last days of summer here in the Northeast USA to get out as much as possible - to swim in lakes, ponds, streams, pools that have access. Go for walks, hikes, strolls with the dog. See friends at a safe distance in our backyards or on the street. These are not tears of sorrow but tears of gratitude, of strength. We WILL get through this harsh time...together.

The condo collapse in Surfside FL is a big deal and very sad. Approx.120 people are missing and presumed dead. COVID hasn't dramatically affected the rescue attempts in most ways. Royal Caribbean had a enormous cruise ship available, because of COVID, so 600 people are living on it while they help with the search. We don't know the details to know whether more people were living in the condo because of COVID or less. Some people that are missing had just arrived to visit someone. That might be because things are opening up, but we can't be sure. I think if it weren't for COVID it would have been easier to get people together in person to pray for those that are missing.
